Why Dubai
 Home    Why Dubai

Dubai sits at the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa, bridging the time zones across East and West and providing easy access to many of the world’s fastest growing emerging markets.

In just a few short years, the city’s skyline has become one of the most admired and recognised in the world – iconic buildings and structures define its identity. Safe and clean, the emirate has been dubbed a city of dreams and it’s easy to see why. The reality is completely atypical of the impression many people from outside the Middle East have of the region.

Record-breaking achievements abound – home to the world’s tallest building, its only seven-star hotel, the largest mall, staggering manmade feats of engineering and future host to the Expo 2020, Dubai is rarely free from positive worldwide media attention.

A unique location in the world

Politically stable and incredibly safe, Dubai maintains its Islamic culture but also freely accommodates other ways of life as well. Five-star hotels provide luxurious dining and rich social life, whilst some of the lowest tax rates in the world and ease of business set-up, in a variety of specialist Free Zones, have attracted thousands of expatriates with such a desirable lifestyle.

Geographically, the UAE, and specifically Dubai, is very well placed – two thirds of the planet’s seven billion population is within an eight-hour plane ride, whilst one third is just four hours away. The emirate has two seaports and two major international airports, supported by world-class infrastructure.

Expo 2020 Dubai

In November 2013, the UAE won the bid to host the World Expo in Dubai in 2020 – making it the first one of its kind staged in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia region (MENASA). Expo 2020 Dubai will showcase exhibits and events from organisations, businesses and cultures from all over the world and will attract an anticipated 25 million visitors, most of whom will come from overseas.

The mega-event will not only boost the UAE’s economy in the years leading up to the event, but also for many after – with the legacy of a purpose-built state-of-the-art conference and exhibition centre on a brand new mixed-use community site.
